Wow, the last day of May already…where has the last five months gone? The weather has been weird; March was very warm, unseasonably warm, April was cold and did not bring us April showers and May has had decent temperatures but very dry. Sometimes maybe a little too warm as the deer flies are already attacking with a vengeance (way too early for deer flies, they are not usually out until later June).
With May being so dry, there are fire bans all over our area and there has been forest fires up in Timmins and Kirkland Lake (where we camp); it may be a totally different landscape this year when we make our way up to Esker Lakes Provincial Park for our family camping trip.
I can’t imagine how stressful it must be waiting and wondering if you will have to evacuate your home. As of Wednesday the state of emergency due to forest fires has been lifted in Timmins and Kirkland Lake.
I’ve been busy trying to get my garden planted, once I’ve got all my veggies planted and sometime in June, Rod and I our planning our next road trip to the Bruce Peninsula National Park. I’m not sure if we will camp in the park or stay in a bed and breakfast or a hotel and make day trips into the park. The Bruce Peninsula National Park is a very popular and busy park, so it may already be booked up. More on our travel plans for this trip once we know what we’re doing and have definite plans in action.
The weather network is forecasting rain over the weekend, which we need so badly, but maybe not so good if you’re planning to camp this weekend!
We are working on a couple of contests, one for Truck Tents Canada and the other for Go Camping Canada. Once we have all the details and rules worked out we will post them here.
