Lake Superiors Amazing Shoreline

Here are a couple of videos we took while exploring Lake Superior.  The video of the shoreline was taken between Pancake Bay and Lake Superior Provincial Park.  There are numerous trails and places to pull off the highway to access Superiors shore.   A great place for a hike is the Gargantua located in Lake Superior Provincial Park.  You access the Gargantua via a gravel road, the road is rough and about 17kms long, it took about 45 minutes one way.  From here you can access the Coastal Trail going north to Indian Harbour, or south to Agawa Bay.  Heather and I chose to hike along the shore line, heading north for about 3kms we marveled at the cobble stone beaches and rock outcrops.

The Sand River is also a great place to hike.  Easy access off the highway leads you to a parking area from where the trail begins.  The trail follows the Sand River as it cascades over broken rock and through gorges of worn volcanic rock.  The trail is easy to follow and well maintained although there are some rough spots so beware.  We only followed the trail for about 2kms before turning back.  We bought a map after our hike and realized that there is a waterfalls just further up the trail, we will have to see that next time.
